Al-Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was carrying earth on the day of the Trench until his stomach was covered, saying:
By Allah, without Allah, we would not be guided … Nor give charity, nor pray.
So send down tranquility upon us … And make firm our feet if we meet.
Indeed, the enemies have oppressed us … When they intended tribulation, we refused.
He raised his voice, saying, “We refused, we refused.”

٤٦١٨ - وَعَنِ الْبَرَاءِ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْقُلُ التَّرَابَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ حَتَّى أَغْمَرَ بَطْنَهُ يَقُولُ : 1
وَاللهِ لَوْلَا اللهُ مَا اهْتَدَيْنَا ....... وَلَا تَصَدَّقْنَا وَلَا صَلَّيْنَا
فَأَنْزِلَنْ سَكِينَةٌ عَلَيْنَا .......... وَثَبِّتِ الْأَقْدَامَ إِنْ لَا قَيْنَا
إِنَّ الْأُلَى قَدْ بَغَوْا عَلَيْنَا ............. إِذَا أَرَادُوا فِتْنَةً أَبَيْنَا
يَرْفَعُ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ أَبَيْنَا أَبَيْنَا. مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.

سیدنا براء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ
صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جنگ خندق کے دن مٹی (خندق میں سے) منتقل کر رہے تھے یہاں تک کہ آپ
کا شکم مبارک آلودہ ہو گیا، آپ فرما رہے تھے، اللہ کی قسم! اگر اللہ نہ ہوتا (اللہ ہدایت نہ دیتا تو) ہم
ہدایت نہ2 پاتے،
اور نہ صدقہ دیتے اور نہ ہم نماز پڑھتے
پس تو ہم پر سکون اور دل کا اطمینان نازل فرما!
اگر ہمارا (دشمن سے) مقابلہ ہو تو، ہم کو ثابت قدم رکھ
بیشک وہ لوگ ہم پر بغاوت کئے ہیں،
جب وہ فتنہ کا ارادہ کرتے ہیں تو ہم انکار کرتے ہیں حضور ﷺ
أَبَيْنَا أَبَيْنَا (ہم انکار کرتے ہیں، ہم انکار کرتے ہیں،) پر اپنی آواز بلند فرماتے۔ (بخاری و مسلم)
