English

Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A man passed by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), who asked a man sitting with him: "What is your opinion of this man?" He replied: "He is among the noblest of people. By Allah, if he proposes, he is worthy of marriage, and if he intercedes, his intercession should be accepted." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) remained silent. Then another man passed, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) asked: "What is your opinion of this man?" He replied: "O Messenger of Allah, this is one of the poor Muslims. If he proposes, he is unlikely to be married; if he intercedes, his intercession is unlikely to be accepted; and if he speaks, his words are unlikely to be heard." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "This one is better than an earth full of the likes of the first." 1
