Chapter on Reckoning, Retribution, and the Scales

Zujajat al-Masabih 5342Volume 4

English

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he laughed, saying: “Do you know why 1 I laughed?” We said: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said: “Because of the servant’s conversation with his Lord. He will say: ‘O Lord, did You not protect me from injustice?’ Allah will say: ‘Indeed.’ He will say: ‘Then I do not permit any witness against me except from myself.’ Allah will say: ‘Your soul is sufficient as a witness against you today, and the noble scribes are witnesses.’ His mouth will be sealed, and it will be said to his limbs: ‘Speak.’ They will speak of his deeds. Then he will be allowed to speak, and he will say: ‘Away with you and be cursed, for it was for you that I contended.’”
