حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا: میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کون سے پیغمبر پہلے ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: آدم علیہ السلام، میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ وہ نبی تھے؟ تو آپ نے فرمایا: ہاں وہ کلام والے نبی ہیں،1 میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! رسول کتنے ہیں؟ تو آپ نے فرمایا تین سو دس پر کچھ زیادہ ہیں جو بڑی جماعت ہے۔ حضرت ابوامامہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے ایک روایت میں ہے، حضرت ابوذر نے کہا: میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! نبیوں کی پوری تعداد کتنی ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ایک لاکھ 2 چوبیس ہزار ہیں، ان میں رسول کی تین سو پندرہ کی بڑی جماعت ہے۔ (احمد)۔
