Zaid ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Ansar said: “O Messenger of Allah, every prophet has followers, and we have followed you. Pray to Allah to make our followers 1 from among us.” So he prayed for it.

٦٠٢٠ - وَعَنْهُ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لِكُلِّ نَبِيَّ أَتْبَاعُ، وَإِنَّا قَدِ اتَّبَعْنَاكَ، فَادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَنَا 1 مِنَّا، فَدَعَا بِهِ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.

نبی کے متبعین ہوتے ہیں اور یقیناً ہم نے آپ کی اتباع کی ہے پس آپ اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا فرمائیے کہ
وہ ہمارے متبعین(68) کو ہم میں سے کر دے۔ پس آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ دعا فرمائی۔ (بخاری)
