Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A sheep was given in charity to a freedwoman of Maimunah, and it died. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) passed by it and said, “Why did you not take its hide, tan it and benefit from it?” They replied, “It is dead.” He said, “Only eating it has been forbidden”.
