Chapter on Mosques and Places of Prayer

Zujajat al-Masabih 983Volume 1

English

It is narrated from Ibn 'Abbas and Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with them) with an addition: "He said: 'O Muhammad, do you know what the highest assembly is disputing about?' I said: 'Yes, it is about the expiations.' The expiations are staying in the mosques after the prayer, walking on foot to congregational prayers, and perfecting ablution in difficult conditions. Whoever does this will live a good life and die a good death, and he will be free from sin as on the day his mother gave birth to him." He said: "O Muhammad, when you pray, say: 'O Allah, I ask You for the ability to do good deeds, to avoid evil deeds, and to love the poor. If You intend to test Your servants, take me to You without being tested.'" He said: "The levels are spreading peace, feeding others, and praying at night while people are asleep."
