Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ, while Mu'adh was riding behind him on the saddle, said: "O Mu'adh!" He replied: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and at your pleasure!" The Prophet repeated: "O Mu'adh!" He again replied: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and at your pleasure!" This happened three times. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: "No one sincerely testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, except that Allah will make him forbidden for the Fire." Mu'adh said: "O Messenger of Allah, should I not inform the people so they may rejoice?" He replied: "Then they would rely upon it." Mu'adh informed about it at the time of his death, fearing sin for concealing it.
