Ibn Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then people will come whose testimony precedes their oath, and their oath precedes their testimony.

٣٧١٥ - وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُوْدٍ رضي الله عنه ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللّهِ ﷺ: (خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّالَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ أَقْوَامٌ تَسْبِقُ شَهَادَةُ أُحَدِهِمْ يَمِينَهُ وَيَمِينُهُشَهَادَتَهُ). مُتَّفَقُّ عَلَيْهِ.

ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا
”خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ...... الخ“، بہترین زمانہ میرا ہے پھر وہ لوگ ہیں جوان کے بعد متصل ہیں پھر
وہ لوگ ہیں جوان کے بعد متصل ہیں پھر ایسی قوم آئے گی جن کی گواہی ان کی قسم سے پہلے ہوگی اور
جن کی قسم ان کی گواہی سے پہلے ہوگی۔ (متفق علیہ)
