English

Abu Sa‘id (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whoever is content with Allah as Lord, Islam as religion, and Muhammad as Prophet, Paradise is guaranteed for him. Abu Sa‘id marveled at it and said: Repeat it to me, O Messenger of Allah. He repeated it, then said: And another thing by which a servant is raised one hundred levels in Paradise, the distance between each two levels like that between heaven and earth. He asked: What is it, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Jihad in the way of Allah, jihad in the way of Allah, jihad in the way of Allah.

Note 2

(2) Regarding the saying: And another thing, etc.: This implies that jihad is a collective obligation, as it is conjoined with Islam’s essentials by way of obligation, and conjunction implies distinction in speech. [Al-Marqah]
